World of Goo Finally Out

I track this game for a long time and like their trailers. They release their first game this Monday and also throw the final trailer.

I didn’t tried the game yet, but first reviews are great and It looks like hit no. 1 of this fall.

Check out new trailer:

Spore: hands on experience

We are waiting for Spore for long time and finally we could see small piece of final title. EA released creature editor for this game and it is awesome. I was little bit nervous about quality of this game due all of these date changes, but all worries are gone.

You can download small demo (around 150 MB) from EA website and another good news: it works well on older computers: I ownAthlon XP 1800+ and 512MB Ram and everything works smooth and everything is quick. Good job EA.

In the trial version you can create your own creature from variety of “components”, you can also browse and edit creatures created by Spore creators and I was very surprised by huge variety of customization. There are also some kind of testing ground where you can test your pet and play with them. You can also create video from this part of game and upload it to youtube in one click. I suspect huge flood of these videos on youtube next days and you can also find many of them today.

Just test this game, downloading and installing time is very short and it is worth. You can also watch behind the scenes of spore video here on blog.

Giant NES Controller and Coffee Table

I like all the weird stuff like Steampunk computer or Piss screen. I found another great gadget today. It is home made giant NES controller in size of coffee table (and if you do not play on the console you can use it for this purpose).

See the video:

Author of this controller have blog with detailed description of how to build this controller or also arcade cabinet. Click here to visit the blog.

In search of something special

Most of gamers will tell you that current games sux, because most games are similar of each others (and then they will go to the shop for new sequel of Fifa, NBA… you named it). The gaming geeks and journalist are more persistent about this and if they see something new they start to sing ode. While fascinated by something new they can easily omit some things which can degrade the game.

There are small independent company in the England: Introversion software and they’ve got all this press for everything they do. I played most of their games and like it, but I can’t say that these game are superiors, they are just unusual. This games have different graphics than other games, have differentgameplay and although their games are not special journalist and hard core gamers like it. This is clear message for other developers: stop doing poor alternatives of successful games and make something different. People will love you.

If you are not familiar with Introversion Software, take a look at the video of theirs further game: Multiwinia, which will be relased during 2008.

Making Art for World of Goo (video)

As I wrote before, I like artistic look of this game, especially the trailers they produce.

They release new video of making art for this game today and I want to share this video with you. Enjoy.

Snot Put

I am big fan if quite complex and good games, but I also like to play something simple, like Snot put. You have one simple objective: just drag the big snot and throw it. That is it, this game is not rocket science and I also can’t write a much about it. Just enjoy it.

World of Goo: Second Trailer

2D Boy: studio consist of three people former from EA who decide to create their own company, released second trailer for their first game: World of Goo. These guys working on most artistic and most experimental indie game I ever seen. I hope to see final version of the game soon.
