How important are controls

The Sims 2These days the most important part of games are graphics. And of course physics. But how can I play great looking game, which’s control absolutelly sucks?

I spoke about it in my post about Resident Evil 4, but now I want to think about it from a little different angle. As I wrote already, right now I’m playing SimCity Societies. And so I bethink of The Sims 2. I was searching a while and finally after few minutes installed it on my laptop.

And even if it’s still so much fun I have one little notice for developers - why don’t you use same control scheme in games from one “family“? Okay - when you wanna implement absolutelly new control scheme, it’s almost impossible to keep at least controls the same. But SimCity and The Sims 2 use the same scheme - one mouse button to build and choose things, one to change the angle of camera and one for slide along the map. So why the hell is SimCity using right mouse button for changing camera angle and The Sims 2 the middle button? I know, it’s a detail, but it’s really confusing, don’t you think?

Hoshi saga - great experimental minigames

Hoshi sagaThis blog has to be mostly about experimental and casual games so I’m giving you today one really great experimental game. It’s called Hoshi saga, it’s from Japan and it’s about finding a star.

Sounds pretty boring, but it’s really not. In every level there is a hidden star and your task is to find, or somehow reveal it from it’s prison. But what’s beautiful about this game is that in every level you must do it absolutelly other way. Sometimes it’s just about luck, sometimes it’s about how neat-handed you are, sometimes it’s just about watching and “whoa” effect.

For example - in first level you can see a wall looking just like in Mario. If you click it, the part of wall will be destroyed. You must keep destroing the wall until you won’t find a star under it. But in the second level you will see just white background. “What the hell is going on?” you can say. But if you’ll be lucky enough and click at the right place, you will “push” a circle or triangle from the background. And you must keep searching until you won’t find the star shape.

So, are you good enough to find all the stars? Try it in your browser and trot us your score in comments :o)

Lucky coin - how lucky you are?

Lucky coinTonight I’ve got for you another easy game to control. Plus - tonight you don’t need any skill, just luck:o) It’s called Lucky coin and I think, I can say, it’s a Peggle flash clone.

Your task is to release your lusky smiling coin and let if fall down and collect points just like in pinball. But here’s almost end of your controll of the coin. The only think, you can do with it is to shoot it to the direction you want, if it’s catcher to a special catcher. But if you’re not lucky enough, you can just sit, watch and hope, that the coin will fall well and collect utmost points.

Sounds good? Try this game in your browser
