I am big fan if quite complex and good games, but I also like to play something simple, like Snot put. You have one simple objective: just drag the big snot and throw it. That is it, this game is not rocket science and I also can’t write a much about it. Just enjoy it.
If you have ever tried to make a best score in some game, you probably know, that you need a lot of time for it. Mansion Impossible is the right opposite - the faster you are, the better you are. In this game you must buy a house of your dreams in the least possible time.
But how to make some money? In this game you do so by buying and selling other, smaller, houses. You must buy them if they’re cheap, wait for the moment when the price is highest and then sell them with some profit. Now it sounds like it was some kind of strategy, but don’t be mistaken - it’s a click management game. And a good one.
On your screen can see a little town with growing houses. Above them you can always see their prices. When it’s new one, it’s price is low, so it’s good to buy it. Then the price grows and grows, but in one moment everything turns around and the price starts to reduct. You must find the imaginary top price and sell the house. If you have more money, you can of course buy more houses and so earnings speed up.
The best thing about this game is, that it’s really fast. It’s possible to finish it in five minutes at most. If you’re better, I’m sure that you won’t need more then three minutes. Unfortenatelly I’m not so good yet and I would get quite old before buying a house - I would need something about 20 years of the gametime:o)
There is no reason that good game must be big in mean of graphic assets, music and other stuff. I love German style board games (like Power Grid) and these board games could show game developers how to make games: there is simple in mean of rules and assets, butgame play is usually well balanced and this is what I like most on the games.
Proximity is, in fact, board transferred to computer. You have one simply hexagonal grid, two armies (red and blue) and simple rule in turn based system: when you place your army, all neighbour armies that have a less “power” than your army will be yours. That’s all.
You can play the Quick game or play with game settings little bit. The quick game means you play at default settings (Player vs. Computer on beginner level and full land). After you tried several rounds I recommend to play with the settings a bit. I like playing on smaller lands, it is quite difficult to play good on smaller landmasses.Unfortunately the AI is not perfect, but provide you good competitor.
You can play with other player on same computer (or watch two computer enemies), but I do not tested it, yet. I really miss lack of Internet multi player.
Conclusion
I can’t say anything bad to this game. Well, AI might be better, but it is ok. Just possibility to turn off sounds will be nice.
If you like platformers, I’ve got a perfect one for you today. First of all I must say, that I didn’t play the full game, but I’m really thinking about buying it. The bad think is that it costs 20$, which I think is quite much even for a good indie game like this. But don’t lose your hope so fast - there’s a quite large demo, which you can play of course for free.
Noita Love 2 is a very fast and action game where’s no place for thinking. You control it with both your mouse and your keyboard. You’re moving with WSAD keys (you can use arrows too) and with your mouse you can fight. There are two ways to fight too. First one is to use your left mouse button or you can use right button and mouse gestures to use something more powerful. The best way to eliminate enemies is of course combination of these two. Of course there are powerful bosses, you can see two of them in the demo.
Presentation of the game is just fantastic. Pixelart praphics, retro music, beautiful animations. The only bad thing I know about is that there’s no way to play this game in a window, you must always use fullscreen. Or at least I didn’t find this choice.
There are a lot of retro like games. Maybe creators like to recall theirs childhoods or this games are just simply to implement and attracts players by unusual graphics and simple game mechanic. I spent my pre-teen years playing games on Commodore 64 and I also have not-so-huge collection of old computers in my home.
I want to recommend you another retro game which is based on old Atari arcade game from 1980. Game is simply: just kill all green junks which wander around the screen (and you can also kill some spiders and some red junk). That’s all, you do not need to be rocket scientists to understand this game.
We can stop at this point, but I must add some notes about game quality. The worst think is that you cannot turn off the sound and the green junks (probably aliens) are too quick and it is hard and not so funny to kill the latest ones.
Well, try the game if you like sound of old time or if you have just couple of minutes. It doesn’t hurt. Click.
Do you like music and would you like to play games like Guitar Hero or it’s free clone Frets on Fire, but you don’t want to install anything? I’ve got great news - here’s a game that should perfectly suit you! A flash game where you can “play guitar” and train your sense for rhytm. Game with an extraordinary long name - Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 3.
If you know any other game of this type, the principe is all the same. There are four lines with colored symbols, arrows and numbers here, and you must push them in the right time. Sounds easy, but if there’s a lot of symbols or the song is fast, it’s not easy at all. Of course with a good training you can get almost perfect score.
So, how to play this game? If a symbol is for example a down arrow, wait unless it’s in the highlighted area and then push a down arrow on your keyboard. If it is for example number one, push number one on your keyboard. Easy, isn’t it? To make things a little easier, you’ll find that in the first line there can be only 1 or down arrow symbol, so you don’t need to read symbols at all.
I think, that best way to play this game is to use seven fingers - three for arrows (you can use only one for down and up arrow) and four fingers for numbers. It can be little confusing in the start, but don’t be affraid, it’s not:o)
Few days ago Gee wrote about crazy Japanese game: Moainosu. Well, I definitely fell in the love to this game (and spent a lot of time playing it) and I am also tried to found another similar game and I found Doeo.
Game mechanic is same as in Moainosu, frantically: move your mouse around the screen and hit the targets (do not click on them, just point).
What’s the difference between these two games? Doeo is less crazy, do not have crazy music and do not have zoom (and crazy sumo-like targets). Doeo have two difficulties, which do not seems too optimized to me: I finish the easy difficulty on first time (and makes top 10 of the day), but I was not able to finish first level on hard difficulty on first five tries. Difference between these two difficulties is just in number of targets which you need to shoot (and there is another colored target in hard option): in easy you need to “shoot” 100 targets opposite to 200 in hard.
There are several other great ideas: levels are constantly changing the face and there is boss (or should I say bosses) in the final version.
Gameplay Tip
Do you want to boost your score? I have one hint for you: lower DPI on your mouse or mouse speed in the Windows settings. This brings more stability to aiming for your hand and helps you to have better score.
Verdict
Which game is better Doeo or Moainosu? I do not know, Moainosu is absolutely great for me, but I like Doeo too, well try both and chose your own favorite game.
